Rita Ortiz, Ph.D.

From district workshops to classroom implementation, Rita Ortiz, Ph.D., continues to strive to bridge the gap between theory and practice.

Ortiz is a visiting assistant professor of instruction at the University of South Florida. She earned her Bachelor's of Science in biology, a Master of Arts in teaching and Ph.D. in curriculum and instruction, with a focus on teacher education. Her background includes experience as an in-field supervisor for secondary clinical education across several disciplines. Her research includes providing authentic science learning for secondary education students and teachers. Aside from higher education, Rita is also a current in-service teacher for middle and high school life sciences.
