Irregular Warfare Research Opportunities
Following House : Consortium to Study Irregular Warfare Act of 2021, Congress enabled the Department of Defense to establish the Irregular Warfare Center of Excellence () in 2023. One of IWCOE’s primary missions is to facilitate research on irregular warfare, strategic competition, the gray zone, and the role of the Department of Defense in supporting interagency activities related to the same. IWCOE has established a with Arizona State University (ASU) to solicit suitable academic research. The Research Support Services Partnership is administered by ASU’s Global Security Initiative and includes four distinct entities: the IWC representatives, core staff, an advisory committee, and the Research Partners Organizations.
The ²ÝÝ®ÊÓÆµ participates in this irregular warfare research as a partner organization, both soliciting and submitting research proposals, but also advising on successful nominations of the entire group. The managing editor of Resilience and Resistance Studies, Dr. Robert Burrell, participates as the voting member of the Research Support Services Partnership. USF faculty are eligible to submit irregular warfare research proposals.
